Jessie DeRight is one of the amazing guides at Southern Pines Guide Service. She has been an avid angler for over 20 years and offers an incredible wealth of angling knowledge. As a military brat growing up, she was blessed to be able to fish in a variety of places. Her grandfather was the first one to introduce her to fishing in the bays of Houston, TX as well as the Gulf Coast of Galveston, TX. Living in Colorado Springs for several years, she would frequent Colorado streams and rivers fishing for trout with her father. When her mother retired from the Air Force, they ended up in west Tennessee. In college she worked as a seasonal ranger for Tennessee State parks and was able to spend a lot of time fishing Reelfoot Lake.
After meeting Captain DeRight, she began fly fishing again and became permanently hooked on Fly Fishing. She spends every free day she can on one of the many beautiful trout streams in Tennessee. On days she’s not able to make it to the water, she can be found tying flies, learning new fly-fishing techniques, and developing new programs to teach and guide. She is also a full time Park Ranger with Tennessee State Parks. Jessie has an unbridled passion for the outdoors that is rarely seen. Her greatest joy in life is being able to share her vast knowledge of the outdoors and angling with others. Her most memorable moments on the water are those shared with anglers when they hook up with their first trout on a fly rod.
Jessie is a newer fly fishing guide but has years of successful experience guiding back country camping trips. She has a vast knowledge of Tennessee’s flora and fauna and ties that in with every trip she guides. Being a Certified Interpretive Guide, EMT-B, and trained by Southern Pines Guide Service ensures every trip with her will be an unforgettable experience.
